Adium 0.85 (Mac)
by Ian Harding
So I just recently found out about a new instant messenger client for Mac today. It's called Adium, and I must say, I'm very impressed. It can be downloaded from Version Tracker. If you are a PC user then you have certainly heard of Trillian. The IM client that brings together multiple other clients. Well, Adium is the same thing, only it's for Mac. Actually, it's not the same. It's better.
After installing Adium, the first thing I did was opened the preferences. WELL, this app is amazing. 100% customizable. Everything from the layout of the contacts window, to message windows, to audio/visual alerts, and MORE. Yes more. This is by far the most customizable IM app I have ever used. The cool thing about this app is that chat windows are collected in one window and contained within tabs. So you only ever have one chat window open. WAY better than trying to organize multiple windows on the screen.
Anyway, if you are a Mac user, I highly recommend checking this IM app out.
Oh and one more thing. If you go into Preferences, and change the Event alerts, it will ask you if you would like to download another preference application called Growl. I'd say do it. Its very cool and can be applied to any system application.
