For love of the Gaming
by Crom
Do you love gaming? I do, and if you do then you should stop whatever you're doing and go out and obtain the new XMen Legends II. Following the same basic Dungeon Siege style of RPG as the previous game, and backing it up with newer talents and crazy super powers, they've hooked up into my brain and taken advantage of my love of SuperHero's. The original was sweet, but you were plagued by your inability to play some of the Marvel Universes greatest characters, because they were "Villains". Nothing gave me greater Joy then the first fight we got into, smashing everything with Juggernaut. I love to smash.
An ugly rumour claims that the super attacks were in the first one, but I don't remember them, and if they were, they sucked balls. Now when the shit has really hit the fan you can unleash the true hatred and power of your character. The first time I used Cyclop's "Optic Rage" it destroyed the entire room we were in, and that's what I like. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every mother fucker in the room, accept no substitute. I like the fact that responses from NPC's differ depending on who you talk to them with. When you talk to an XMen with a Brotherhood character, they're hostile and aloof, and when you talk to them with a comrade they're warm and friendly. It's the little things that make a difference. Royale with Cheese.
If you like SpiderMan (and hey, who doesn't) then you should check out the new Spiderman game as well. It looks amazing, a totally new type of cell shading was used to make the game, and it's the closest thing to a living comic book i've ever layed eyes on. You get to play as Venom to, and eat small children, who can resist that? However if you're expecting weeks of enjoyment out of it, you're going to be dissapointed, because it's really, REALLY friggin' short. Scream finished it in a day, and he was heard to mutter dark oaths regarding the lack of content. A renter for sure.
Also, and i'm not sure if i've already mentioned this, the Hulk game that was released a short while ago, only gets better with age. It's the diametric opposite of Spiderman in the content realm, i'm surprised there's still content LEFT to play. And, when I fought General Ross in his giant "Hulk-Buster" that was the size of a building (and he leveled the whole island we were on, it was nuts) I thought the game was over...Only to learn that it had only just begun. Any game in which you can grab a mech, jump in the air while punching his face, and then bounce off the pavement with him and throw his shattered corpse at another ally, is possibly the greatest game in the world, in my books.
