R4NT videos playing at Calgary International Film Festival

Public Service Announcements which consists entirely of R4NT videos will be playing in the Midnight Shorts #1 collection. Saturday, Sep. 24, 11:59 pm, Globe Theatre.

The cynical among you may say, oh sure Gord, you're working at the film festival. Of course R4NT videos were selected.

If only it was that easy. If it was only a matter of asking the programming department to include my film.

If only it was a simple matter of sexual favors. Of some unspeakable acts that I will never be able to forget.

If only blackmail wasn't required. The photos. The drugged coffee. The slow crawling my way up the CIFF ladder.

The destruction of other submissions. The sideswiping another director off into the ditch. You think he'd be dead. You'd think an 80km/h impact would kill a man. But no.

The witnesses. Oh God, the witnesses. Just when you're finishing off one, then next one arrives. Like a never ending chain.

"Mommy, why is that man carrying that other man?"

Those words will haunt me for eternity, as my soul roasts in hell, I'll hear them still.

Well, I suppose I've written too much already.
And, on a darker note, my friend Blaise Kolodychuk has a 13 minute submission called "Phaedra’s Room", following the movie Stiffed which he wrote music for. That's a heck of a lot of Blaise Kolodychuk.

If you don't know who Blaise Kolodychuk is... perhaps One With The Fish or SugarPlumHoneyBun will refresh your memory.

Blaise makes small appearances in Public Service Announcements as a star of Sperms of Endearment and Children of the Cornhole. He is truly a man of exceptional talent.

And, although he'll deny it, he's always carrying a supply of crack and is willing to sell. If you are a crack head and need some he will sell if you badger him enough.
