Rain, Rain, Rain
by Ian Harding
Well, it's been six days of rain here in Calgary, and there is nothing but more rain scheduled for the next day or so. Only a few off periods on the weekend, but now it's back at it and really coming down!
I'm living along a river that runs through the city, and it's level is currently above it's norm by about 3 feet. We have a stone patio down by the river, however, it is completely emersed right now. Here is a quick vid I took. Picture a stone patio that extends out about 8 feet from another step below the one you can see just under the water's surface.
High flowing river... (give it a second... it's not streaming...)
It hasn't rained 3 feet of water by any means, but everyone knows where the rain water all goes... Walking pathways under bridges throughout the city are also completely covered, and residences near another river in the Calgary City area are getting out sandbags due to the rising river levels. Jeepers. In Ontario it rains... but for 7 days straight? This is definitely new to me...
