Calgary Parking Authority - Legal Theives
by ducati_agb
This is one business that I would have to think, does unbelievably well. Not only do they have parking lots that they control, they are also the only public facing point of contact for illegally parked vehicles. So, the typical process goes like this, if you have an illegally parked vehicle on your property, the first step is to have them come and ticket the vehicle. If the vehicle has not moved or re-offends after it has been ticketed, it can be towed away at the owners expense. Think about it, the average parking ticket is, lets say $40.00. If you re-offend, or don't move your vehicle, I would have to think that the price to have a vehicle towed would be at least $100.00 and for sure, you would have to pay impound fees ($40 - $60) I would guess. When the dust settles, the CPA makes $200.00 per tow job (which is a conservative estimate). This is the kicker, if you decide not to pick up your car after its towed, they have the option of auctioning it. Talk about a license to print money.
I need to start a business like this.....
