2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Vancouver

The Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) today announced ticket prices for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, with the most expensive tickets being $1,100 for prime seats at the opening ceremonies.

CBCNews.ca - The committee said approximately 1.6 million tickets for the ceremonies and the various competitions will become available on Oct. 11, 2008.

In the sports events, the men's ice hockey final will be the most expensive at $775 for the best seats, and $450 and $350 for cheaper seats. Second most expensive will be tickets to the figure skating Gala Exhibition, ranging from $525 to $175.

Half of all tickets will be priced at $100 or less, and 100,000 of them will cost $25.

Around 30% of all available tickets will be made available to the athletes and their families, as well as National Olympic Committees and international sports federations, media and broadcasters, and VANOC sponsors.

Like many other Canadians who claim that this is a "once in a lifetime" experience, I plan to find a ticket with my name on it. Not sure what event I'd like to see yet, but that doesn't matter. I've got an entire year to decide.
