Enjoyment

by David Gluzman

I'm currently in the midst of trying to liquidate a small truckload of my possessions, if not for the sole reason of making my apartment neater. I'm doing so because I'm trying to only hang onto things that I find of substantial personal value.

Here's a small list of the things that I've decided are definite keepers:

  • My Rain Jacket + Umbrella (see previous entry)
  • Canon 20D (pretty pictures)
  • 12" Powerbook (I'm sadly addicted to using these computer things)
  • Gmini (sweet sweet music)
  • My Smurfs
  • My complete Collection of 'Gaston La Gaffe' french comics
  • Hiking Boots
  • Most of my bikes..

And as for the short list of things that have already left:

  • ALL (I mean ALL) computer parts that are currently not in my computer (this was 2 full green garbage bags of tech)
  • Any sort of paper clippings
  • VHS tapes
  • Clothing
  • Old kitchen stuff
  • 1 Pocket PC (god that thing sucks)

I hate feeling like I rely on things.. And I really dislike being materialistic. However I do find that the stuff I generally hang onto is stuff that either brings me some sort of means to an end, or is purely for recreation.

I'm curious to hear what sort of things you find you just need to hang onto..
