New Toonie!

by MaxPower

New Toonie - The Bear is Not Named Plouf.

The Royal Canadian Mint (get that Americans? We're Royal) announced today an updated version of the ever popular two dollar coin affectionately known as "The-Coin-If-You-Get-Three-of-Them-In-Your-Pocket-And-Lose-Them-You're-Out-6-bucks!" better known as the Toonie (even by the government!).

Reason? 10 years of toonie goodness. Man the loonie is old.

Get rid of pennies!

To celebrate todayš„ôs launch, the Royal Canadian Mint is running a Name Our Polar Bear contest. Until October 5th, Canadians from coast to coast can participate online by voting for one of five names, yay! Vote here

The names - and I kid you not are - Wilbert, Sacha, Plouf, Makwa, Churchill.

Churchill is the only even mildly acceptable name, so get in there and vote! Plouf? Wtf - ah well plouf is French for splash so there you go.

Oh wait, it says you have to be under 13... whatever.
