New Cross Platform Wireless Controller from Microsoft

by MaxPower

Microsoft recently announced a pretty decent sounding cross-platform controller based off the Xbox 360 wireless controler.

The new controller is wireless version of the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. Basically it allows you to, as one would expect, use your Xbox 360 controller to play games on your PC as well. It is designed by the Xbox 360 gaming team and features:

¬ˆ‘ 2.4 GHz wireless technology with up to a 30-foot range
¬ˆ‘ Adjustable vibration feedback for longer battery life
¬ˆ‘ Thumb sticks/pressure triggers
¬ˆ‘ Eight-way direction pad for enhanced PC gaming
¬ˆ‘ Integrated headset jack for PC headsets

The wireless gaming controller works with Windows XP-based PCs and the Xbox 360 system. Expect it out in Canada in January 07 for around $70 CDN.

I find that pretty funny really - Jan 07? Unless they are going after the "gift card" market, you'd think they would pull all the strings necessary to get it into stores a month earlier. That being said, I know people in the retail industry who have been telling me for the last couple years that the few weeks after the holidays (so starting the first week in January) can be as busy as the two weeks leading up to Christmas due to people A) spending money they got as gifts, B) using gift cards which are insanely popular or C) returning stuff.
