Canadian GST goes to 5%

Today the Canadian government announced that effective Jan 1, 2008 the GST will be cut by 1% from 6% to 5%
Yes, it's a populist move, they'd be better off (economically) cutting personal income taxes. But I'll enjoy my extra 1% savings because any time I pay less taxes, I'm happy.
