Let’s All Hate Toronto

by MaxPower

Let's All Hate Toronto is a documentary which looks at why the rest of Canada hates Toronto. It hasn't come out yet, but man does it sound funny (it is meant to be funny, not one of those angsty docu-dramas so popular now). Mainly because it is true.

This guy basically got a big sign that says "Toronto Appreciation Day" and him and another guy would stand out in various Canadian locales with it up and well here is a quote from him:

The other thing that's very interesting is that we would put up a "Toronto Appreciation Day" banner and we'd hold up a watch to see how long it would take for someone to drive by or walk by and shout, "Toronto sucks." And almost nowhere was it more than one minute. This Toronto sucks idea is very stuck in Canadians heads. At first, it's like a negative idea, but it's literally true: Toronto sucks the smartest and the most ambitious people out of all the other Canadian cities.

Can't you just see that? Someone out the window of their car - Toronto sucks in less than a minute. Hilarious. Actually I wouldn't doubt you'd get that here as well, corner of Front and Bay, hold that sign for long enough and some non-Torontonian who lives in Toronto would yell it out.

The film maker - a Montrealer who now lives in Toronto - says Vancouver is the most Toronto hate-iest city in Canada. Although there are reports that when he was in Edmonton during the Oilers' playoff run last year with his Toronto Appreciation Day sign he almost got the crap kicked out of him.

Here is the trailer, from a Toronto based blog.

And oh yes - he locates the very root of the issue:

In certain parts of the country, that is one of the prime motivators [of Toronto hating]. In Vancouver, one of the prime motivators is that they have to watch Leafs games, that their schedule is worked around us, meaning that they're forced to watch hockey games in the middle of the afternoon.

That's the stupid CBC's fault (CBC is a co-creator of the film).
