More Happy
by MaxPower
More Happy is the new Pepsi slogan to be revealed (along with new can designs) at the Superbowl.
More Happy along with being grammatically unconfortable (Pepsi makes me more happy???, drinking Pepsi is more happy???, I'm more happy I'm drinking Pepsi???, Be more happy drinking Pepsi??? wtf), is just a pretty stupid catch phrase.
"One of the nice things about the word 'happy' is it's really multidimensional," said Russell Weiner, vice president of cola marketing at PepsiCo. "When you show consumers, they bring up words like invigorating, uplifting, exciting, fun. The beauty of the word happy is it kind of captures all of them."
Yeah, multidimensional. That is one word I don't think about when I say the word happy, which is pretty low down on the thesaurus-o-meter.
That being said - most slogans don't resonate well. I didn't even know that Coke's slogan is: "Welcome to the Coke Side of Life" .
Along with the launch, Pepsi has a website here: with a Times Square webcam where they encourage people to design a billboard for Times Sq. The last slogan I really remember is "You got the right one baby, uhhhhh huhhh" with Ray Charles.
More Happy, however, is the suck.
