Perky the Duck

by MaxPower

Rather than be ironic, sarcastic or irrelevant, I'm going to do a quickie blog post here on a heart warming story - a duck who was shot, refrigerated, operated on, died, came back to life and now is fund-raising.

So as you can read here on the BBC, Perky the Duck was discovered by the wife of a hunter, alive, in a refrigerator, two days after being shot by her husband. The hunter's wife took the duck into a vet who was going to repair the broken wing. During the surgery Perky stopped breathing not once but twice. The vet then pronounced Perky dead, tears were about to flow - however, thanks to those life saving efforts by the vet which included shocking Perky, Perky "raised her head and began flapping her wings".

You can check out footage of Perky before the surgery here

Perky is now living happily at the Goose Creek Animal Sanctuary in Florida with a pin in her wing. Any duck which survives getting shot, thrown in a refrigerator for 2 days, having major surgery and being dead, deserves a post on the R4NT blog.

Perky is one tough duck.

Perky is now fundraising too:

Volunteers at Goose Creek are hoping a t-shirt on sale through a local firm will raise enough cash to provide long-term care for the bird.
