Top 10 Cars Driven by Men
by MaxPower
In light of R4NT's latest autoshow/automotive posting on the R4NT.com frontpage I present to you the top 10 cars driven by men (using US stats from ForbesAutos.com). You'll notice most of autos on the list are niche cars and/or supercars, which isn't a surprise as not too many women I know would lay down that much coin for a ride:
10. Volkswagen Phaeton - 89.19% male - the infamous $100K Volkswagen which only lasted 1 year, because apparently there aren't many women (and men too) who are willing to pay $100 Gs for a Vee Dub.
9. Pontiac GTO - 89.24% male - Based off of Australia's Morano model, not available in Canada, 400 hp V8, sounds like a guy's car.
8. Mercedes G-Class 89.26% male - A Benz SUV made for "the military", but comes with wood and leather interior. Think of it as a Euro-Hummer, 'cept it's fugly as hell. No wonder chicks wouldn't be caught dead in this.
7. Hummer H2 89.46% male - Not much to say, but I'm a bit surprised it didn't place higher. Apparently 10% of Hummer drivers out there are manish chicks or something.
6. Lamborgini Gallardo 89.91% male - What you couldn't afford a Murcielago so you're slumming it with Akon and his Gallardo? (Seriously - the fact that Akon "mentioned" the Gallardo in his "song" Smack That made it onto Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamborghini_Gallardo) I think the mere fact Akon mentioned it drops its desireability factor.
5. Ferrari F430 89.92% male - The value Ferrari runs about US$175K.
4. Rolls-Royce Phantom - 90% male - Nothing screams old boy money like a Phantom. I like the suicide doors though.
3. Mercedes GL-Class 92.35% male - One of MB's new luxury SUVs apparently doesn't appeal to the soccer mom set. The GL pulls its hefty 5,200 pound frame upto 100km/hr in 7.4 seconds. Slightly faster than a Kia.
2. Hummer H1 93.81% male. So the difference between the full on military edition H1 and the military-lite SUV H2 is only a difference of 4.35% in the number of females driving it? What the women in the H2 just couldn't justify the monster SUV? Note - slightly less than 400 units were sold in 06 so only about 25 or so women bought one.
1. Maybach 57 & 62 95% male. Small sample size skews numbers - only 7 women were reported to have bought this car in the US last year. Which is small considering there were almost 150 sold @ US$335K - $400K/car, but which begs the question: who are the seven women laying down almost 400 Gs on the Maybach? Oprah? Melinda Gates? Inquiring minds want to know.
