Victory Plan!
by MaxPower
The NHL's New York Islanders, better known as the team whose GM (Garth Snow) used to play for them as goalie and was known as the Michelin Man for his over-sized equipment which he used to hide his ineptitude (GAA of 3.72 in his last year??), has come out with a new fan appreciation program.
The Victory Plan gives fans the opportunity to buy four tickets and receive a bonus ticket for every Islanders win. Every Islanders fan knows the excitement of the buzzer sounding with their team claiming victory. This season, fans who purchase the Victory Plan will be rewarded even more following an Islanders win. Each time the Islanders win a game in the four-game Victory Plan package, you will get to come back and watch another select game - on us! For example if the Isles defeat the Sidney Crosby-led Pittsburgh Penguins on November 26, you get to return to the Nassau Coliseum on December 16 to see Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals for FREE
Right. So how am I supposed to interpret that? I could take the "minor league promotion" side like Puck Daddy does, or the "this just encourages fans to cheer for a win" side, like they are going to be cheering for much else. However, I'm going to call it in the spirit of Garth "The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man" Snow and say that if the NYI are offering a free ticket to another game if the Islanders win at home, the management must not have much confidence in the Islanders' ability to win. Just like wearing shoulder pads that come up to your ears means you must not have much confidence in your ability to stop pucks.
