Facebook Public? Noooooo.

BC Provincial NDP Candidate Ray Lam found out the hard way that Facebook profiles (whether restricted to friends or not) are essentially public message boards. They are akin to posting pictures out on your front door so that every person who walks by can take a look. Ray, pictured above, found out a little too late.

B.C. NDP Leader Carole James says the party's former candidate for Vancouver-False Creek showed a "lack of judgment" over pictures displayed on his Facebook page.

Ray Lam resigned on Sunday over the photographs, one of which showed him palming a woman's breast and another with his pants down and two people pulling at his underwear.

The subject of the pictures isn't the issue - who cares about Ray there copping a feel? It is about people not understanding that pictures they post on the internet can have serious repercussions for their future career. I am sure Ray didn't think his political career would go down in flames because of some (very) mildly titillating pictures.

Sorry Ray, but your lack of judgment is a great warning to anyone out there who still is under the impression that there is some sort of online twilight zone where it doesn't matter if you post all of your personal pictures out on your front door.
