Innovative Public Art

This is an art installation, called Light, the Universe and Everything by Jeff de Boer, a multimedia artist from Calgary. The sphere is set up outside the Hotel Arts (1st Street, 13th Ave) and was only installed on Tuesday. Normally it looks like a metal ball on a pole but then in the evenings it starts up an 19 minute light show.
"I would describe it as a fusion of static metal sculpture and digital kinetic sculpture that by day is one thing and by night is another thing," says de Boer.
Here is some background on the project. Always great to see public art, and as a plus from a local artist. I can see this sculpture lighting up on a nice summer night and attracting a crowd to watch the free show. Quality.
